Advice on hand this week for A Levels and GCSE Results- Don't Panic!
Connexions Oldham are reminding those about to receive examination results this week and next to 'keep calm, don't panic and seek advice and guidance if needed'.
A Level results are due to be published on 20th August, with GCSE's a week later on 27th.
Steve Murphy, the Director of Education Services at Connexions explained what students should do if they do not get the results that they expect to get, "Most people have plans in place based on the results that they expect to get, but often results can be better than predicted and students need to speak to their school, college or Connexions Personal Adviser to see if this opens up any opportunities that they had not previously considered." The more difficult situation is when results fall short of what is needed for college, apprenticeships or university.
"In this situation", Steve explained, "it is essential to act quickly even if you do not feel like facing up to things. Some colleges, training providers and universities may be willing to still take you and it is worth contacting them to ask. Even if this is not the case, then there are often other alternative courses available, so speak to someone who knows and who can help you make the best of the situation in school, college or at the Connexions on Union Street."
Connexions will have Personal Advisers based in schools on the day of your results, and you can also drop into Connexions on Union Street which is open every week day from 9.00am-5.00pm with a late night opening until 7.00pm Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday and on Saturdays from 10.00-2.00pm.
So if you are waiting for GCSE's AS levels, A levels or any other examination results make sure you get the best advice possible and make the right decision for you.
