Academic qualifications linked to a subject AS, A2, A Levels
A levels give you an advanced level of knowledge in a particular subject. Most people will begin with 3 or 4 subjects. AS levels are taken in the first year, then A2 levels in the second year. If you pass both years you get a full A level.
The combination and grades of A levels and/or BTEC subjects is very important for individual university courses. There are also many university courses where you can gain entry through other vocational qualifications at level 3.
